History of origin

How everything started...

Realization of the nationwide model settlement in stages:

The entire settlement and the individual courtyards were not built "in one go", but in several stages. The starting point was formed by the first row of four and the semi-detached house in the central courtyard, into which the residents moved in 1986/87, who had campaigned for their ideas in the public planning processes with the "Allermöhe Ecological Building Interest Group". In the construction process, significant parts of the south courtyard followed (1991), further houses in the central courtyard (1992) and the north courtyard (1991-1993). The second row of four in the south courtyard was completed last (1996).

...

By 1983 at the latest, the city of Hamburg had entered into intensive planning work for the planned "ecological building" sub-area of the Neu-Allermöhe-Ost development area through a combination of urban planning, architects and property developers.

In several expert rounds with the participation of the Hamburg chief building director, the responsible supreme state authorities and with the participation of the future users, standards for the construction of the individual lines and the entire estate were defined, which became the basis for the planning of the architects and companies involved.

Support

Knowing that they were involved in the construction of a nationwide model settlement for ecological living and building, the Hamburg environmental authority and the Federal Ministry of Construction promoted the operation of the settlement's own plant-based sewage treatment plant, the latter also being its scientific evaluation.
